The Scottish Football Association The Scottish FA exists to promote, foster and develop the game at all levels in this country. Founded in 1873, Scottish football’s governing body has recently undergone the most radical changes in its history, enabling us to lead the game into a new era. The launch of our strategic plan Scotland United: A 2020 Vision outlines the vision, values and goals that underpin the organisation and its many facets. The plan encompasses four strategic pillars: • Perform and Win • Strong Quality Growth • Better financial returns • Respected and Trusted to Lead The Scottish FA is committed, with the support of its partners and sponsors, to promote the game at grassroots level by providing players, coaches and volunteers with access to football regardless of ability, sex, race or gender. We have also invested £15m in a four-year Performance project which will accommodate the most talented young players in seven Regional Performance Schools around the country. Here, they will be coached by the Scottish FA around the educational curriculum, with the focus on the 10,000-hour elite performance benchmark. The Scottish FA is also responsible for operating the world-famous Scottish Cup and is proud of its distinction as the oldest cup prize in world football. Equally, the Scottish FA is responsible for the fortunes of al our national teams: from the Senior Men’s and Women’s A Squad, to the under-21s and National Youth Teams from Under-15 Victory Shield to Under-19. The Scottish FA’s coaching course is revered the world over and has been used and endorsed by such illustrious coaching names as Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Kenny Dalglish, Marcello Lippi, Andre Villas-Boas and Walter Smith. Governance is a primary responsibility and the appointment of a Compliance Officer and a move towards an independent Judicial Panel has enhanced the efficiency and transparency of the disciplinary process. Club Licensing, player and coach registrations, Referee Development and Coach Education are also key components of the Scottish FA’s wide commitment to the national sport. Scottish FA

  • Scottish Cup R4 Adventure | GlenvaleFC2009

< Back Scottish Cup R4 Adventure 26 Nov 2023 Westdykes CC v Glenvale Whites Scottish Cup Round 4 Difficult one today against the top 2009 team in Aberdeen. The boys worked very hard from start to finish, we went in at half time only 1-0 despite Westdyes having many chances to increase their lead. Our #1 James made some great saves along with some good defending. In the second half we made some changes and asked the players to press and go man for man all over the park and take this tie to Westdykes. We did really well for a spell and were firmly in the game despite not really troubling their keeper. Around 15 mins to go Westdykes stretched their lead to 2-0 with a good strike from outside the box. Westdykes began to stretch us all over the park and showed their ability scoring 2 quick goals in the last minutes to make it 4-0. Coaches MoM was our goalkeeper James McKechnie who made some wonderful saves to keep us in the game at times. He didn’t deserve to lose 4 goals. Big thanks to Westdykes for their hospitality from start to finish. They were very hospitable and the players were a credit to themselves and their club. Best of luck for the rest of the season. Big thanks to everyone for helping reach this this stage in the Scottish Cup, it’s been a learning curve and an experience for all of us. • Into the Next Round of the Cup! | GlenvaleFC2009

< Back Into the Next Round of the Cup! 11 Nov 2023 Glenvale Blacks through to the next round of the West Region Cup. What a trip and day that was for everyone involved, 44 in a bus including players and family made the trip to Lochgilphead and the lads played excellent throughout. 2-0 up at half thanks to goals from Seamus and Josh. Lochgilphead got one back early in the 2nd half but a Wonder strike from Ben gave us security and after a late goal from the home side we held on and secured our place into the next round. We can't thank Lochgilphead enough for their hospitality today putting on a spread for the players and parents after the game and being Fantastic hosts, we wish them well for the rest of their season in the Glasgow league A massive thanks to Abbey Coaches for their top service today aswell, top notch. For us though we will face Vale of Clyde in the next round, with a league match V OLM away next up. What a day! Previous Next

  • Big thanks to 4 Corners Gym | GlenvaleFC2009

< Back Big thanks to 4 Corners Gym 14 Nov 2023 Free exercise class on offer at Johnstone boxing gym. People who are keen to get out of the house this winter can take part in a new exercise class at a Johnstone boxing gym. The free two-hour sessions for men are taking place at 4 Corners Boxing and Fitness, in Macdowall Street, every Wednesday, starting at 2pm. Organised in partnership with local charity Active Communities, the open gym sessions will offer men aged 18 and over the chance to get guidance on their workouts from experienced staff members. Those who take part can also enjoy a hot drink and a blether during the sessions, which are designed to boost participants’ self-esteem and confidence. The former British welterweight champion, from Paisley, is keen to give local youngsters the opportunity to learn the sport from a young age. The dad-of-four said: “We have kids as young as six taking part in non-contact classes, which involve basic boxing drills and a wee bit of fitness. “It's just a great sport all round to be doing, as it helps keep the boys out of trouble and on the straight and narrow. “We’ve also got a lot of girls taking it up as well.” For more information about 4 Corners Boxing and Fitness, search for ‘4.corners.boxing’ on Facebook. • Fun at Top Golf | GlenvaleFC2009

< Back Fun at Top Golf 5 Dec 2023 Glenvale Whites attended Top Golf for their Christmas night out. A huge appreciation goes out to Jamie at JPS Builders for their generous donation that made it possible for our team to enjoy a well-deserved night out at Top Golf in Glasgow. Picture this: our team, armed with questionable golf swings and shots that could rival a scene from a comedy show, tearing up the driving range. It was like watching a live-action sitcom, but with more divots and less script! A special thanks are in order to Emma and the dedicated coaches who helped facilitate this fantastic outing, turning it into a wonderful and memorable event for the entire team. Their efforts went above and beyond, ensuring that everyone had not only a great time but also created memories. Previous Next
